Día de las Madres

I never fully understood the weight you carried.

I didn’t comprehend the baggage you grew up with.

I wish you told us more about your upbringing.

I always knew you hid your worries to protect us from hurting too.

You worked so hard to get us where we’re at.

You taught me work ethic and determination.

You never really said how you felt about us,

But you showed it through your actions.

You cut up fruit for us when you got home.

You showed me how to cut my pancakes.

I hated when you would put lotion on me because you knew I would never do it.

I’m sorry for only seeing you as a mother.

Sorry for the times I was too stubborn to notice your internal struggles.

There were times I should have known better.

You did your best to raise us all at once.

Thank you for carrying the burden for us.

I hope we can repay you tenfold.

I am so grateful for you.

Feliz Día de las Madres.
