The Flow of Time

Time does not discriminate. Time goes on and waits for no one. I see it in my parents. I see it in myself. I see it in the things around me. As time passes and we grow older, thoughts of the future become memories of the past. I remember being excited to grow up and do adult things. I remember looking forward to certain phases and events and before I knew it, I began reminiscing on those lived experiences. Sometimes I forget that I'm not 18 anymore or 20, or 22, or 24. I forget high school wasn't 4 or 5 years ago anymore. I don't think the same as I did in the past. Eventually we grow up. The people I knew back then might not be the same people today. The people from today might not be around tomorrow. The flow of time is so interesting and I feel like the older I get, the more conscientious I am of each moment. And even then, sometimes those moments go unnoticed and I find myself being nostalgic of times that once were. As time flows, I know I will continue to change, whether that be mentally or physically, but time will tell and it will not wait on me. These memories will always last and those fragments of time will always remain, but the passage of time will never hold me back from enjoying the present moments of today.

"The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days..."

I feel like things reveal themselves with time. Maybe not in the way we wish, but things come to light in due time. Whether it's proving something, waiting for something, waiting on someone, or even before we realize it, time will tell. Not in all cases, but time can decide. Whatever seeds you plant today, you will reap the results in the future, good or bad. A relationship, a skill, an objective, an idea. What you do or don't do now will affect what is produced or isn't produced later. For some this may seem terrifying, but I see it as liberating. Although the concept of time itself may feel linear to us, the way we use our time is completely up to us. Time to play. Time to rest. Time to work. The good times. The tough times. It is all a ride. There is no such thing as too late until it is too late. Good things come with time as well. Time is a blessing. With the time you have on your hands, what will you do with it?

“Time passes, people move. Like a river's flow, it never ends. A childish mind will turn to noble ambition. Young love will become deep affection. The clear water's surface reflects growth.”
